Yes, you are wondering what is going on here in Eastern Massachusetts, aren't you? Happy Holidays????
NOW is the time to start preparing holiday cards for Cards for Heroes!
According to the best estimate I could find, there are over 150,000 military personnel deployed currently in Iraq and Afghanistan (and other support posts nearby).
Last year, Cards for Heroes mailed over 37,000 holiday greeting cards to the military - this year, we'd like to do even more. As you can see if your math skills are good - this still isn't even one card for every three servicepersons currently deployed. Does this inspire you to make a few more cards this year? GOOD!
As for my card, I was inspired in a different way...earlier this year, Cards for Heroes worked with another fantastic organization called Project MOT, providing some Passover cards for this organization to put in care packages, which were sent to Jewish military personnel currently on deployment. They loved the cards so much, they have asked us to provide Chanukah cards this year.
Being Jewish, I was happy to help out with the project....but found my supply of Chanukah stamps rather, um, lackluster. I mentioned this to my friends Monica and Tim at Hambo Stamps, and asked if they might be interested in designing a cute Chanukah stamp for me to use. After a few e-mails back and forth, Tim drew a digital stamp for me....and the result was perfect!
There's no particular creative genius to this card....but I just loved the way it came out, and it was my first time using a digital stamp (and I am sure hooked!!!!). You can resize the image to whatever size you need, and I'm sure the digi folks could tell you that there are many other things you can do with these great stamps!
Like the stamp? Tim & Monica at Hambo Stamps have offered its use FREE OF CHARGE to anyone who is going to make Cards for Heroes! How generous is that??? If you are interested in the stamp, just e-mail me at fabre@cardsforheroes.org and I will e-mail you the image. It will be fun to see what others do with this stamp....
For your next stop on the hop, check out Brianne's blog. I was moved by her story - and glad to honor her as a hero at home! Check out her blog by clicking on her name in this paragraph! Thanks for reading, and for your support of Cards for Heroes!

Great card, Fabre!
Love that stamp! And you are right, there are not many Hanukkah stamps out there. I know that Studio G had a wood block stamp not long ago.
great card and how generous of Hambo to make that for everyone to use! Thanks for all you do--I will be sure to make some Hanukkah cards too for my mailing!

Your card is sooo cute Fabre!! I love your digistamp, it's adorable!
what a great digicard! Usually you only see the sentiment and no images.
Great idea to post the numbers to an idea of how many cards are needed. It makes me feel much better about making duplicates!
(You'll be getting my box before Sept 20th, so you can use my Halloween cards.)
Very cute! It is nice to know about the digistamps. Thanks!
Holy cow that is cute! I am always in search of something cute to make for my friends who celebrate Chanukah. . . I have dropped you an email. :) Thank you for sharing!
Great card Fabre! I so agree that being able to enlarge or reduce an image to just the "right size" is a god send. Thank you for all you do as a shipper for CFH, I truly appreciate it. ~ Paula S.
Great idea-- what a great stamp & lovely card.
What an adorable stamp! I've got a sheet of Hanukkah stickers I picked up some place... I'll have to see what I can do with them. :)
Fabre thanks for the reminder to Think Chanukah! I have some stamps I just needed to be nudged into remembering.
Very cute Fabre! I was anxious to see what you'd do with this, and was not disappointed. I hope you reach your goal of cards collected! :)
very cute card Fabre! Thanks so much for the inspiration & for all your work for CFH & our troops
Very nice! Love the digi stamp. I have never used them before, but will in the future.
You card is so cute. Thank you for all your work with CFH.
I have been looking for Chanukah stamps and they are very hard to find. I did get a few dies that quickutz has and am lost for what greeting to use. I figure I would either die cut the letters or use letter stamps.
Fabre, I have a thought. Could you put something on the CFH site with a few "sayings" to write on the cards. Also what colors are best to use. I believe the colors are blue and white, can you also use silver etc. Thank you.
Super cute card! Love the stamped image!!
Beautiful card!
